Abstract/Description
Management practices in gardens are often critical to the height of the plants grown. The objective of this study was to evaluate the differences in snow pea, Pisum sativum, height when grown with Organilock fertilizer compared to without fertilizer in Murray, Kentucky. The snow peas were grown in two separate 3 foot by 4 foot plots, one with the Organilock product and the other without fertilizer. The snow peas were planted at a 1 inch depth and 2 inches apart along a cattle panel in the middle of each plot. Plot A, no Organilock fertilizer, was planted exactly two weeks prior to Plot B, with Organilock. Plot A was planted February 21, 2019. Plot B was not planted until March 7, 2019. Plot B, with the Organilock fertilizer grew much faster than Plot A. Plot B measured at 2 inches at 3 weeks post plant, while Plot A measured 4 inches at 5 weeks post plant. The fertilizer applied to plot B was the equivalent of 3 gallons spread over the top of the plot by hand. The Organilock fertilizer, Recharge as they have named it, is a nutrient infused soil technology that contains essential organic nutrients and organic matter to improve soil quality and improve plant growth. It has a pH between 6 and 7 to help rehabilitate soil health. The average length of harvest is 70 days and are 48 inches tall. This data will also be involved in the comparison between the two plots to see how they compare with the average, and if the height and amount of days to harvest is influenced by the Organilock Recharge fertilizer.
