Abstract/Description
Nurse to patient ratios are at the forefront among healthcare safety initiatives within hospitals nationwide. •Higher nurse patient ratios force nurses to spend less time with patients, decreasing therapeutic interventions that are nonpharmacological. Much of the interventions that are not absolutely required then fall by the wayside and nurses spend the only time available on doing only the most vital tasks. However, in order to improve patient outcomes, and to promote holistic healing, reasonable nurse to patient ratios have to be implemented.
