Abstract/Description

Across decades, Buchi Emecheta, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Akwaeke Emezi have emerged as figureheads of the feminist literary tradition in Nigeria. Using feminist theory as a framework and each of these writers' works as "case studies," I argue that the thematic focus of Nigerian feminist literature has shifted over the late 20th and 21st centuries from mere representation to liberation and deconstruction of gender.
