Abstract/Description

As Christianity began its shift from a subset of Judaism into a separate religion unable to completely distance itself Jewish roots. The evolution of Early Christianity influenced and was influenced by the simultaneous development of Rabbinic Judaism, despite its rejection and othering of Judaism in Roman society. This paper seeks to examine the continued development of Early Christianity through the lens of their continued interactions with Judaism rather than the more predominant Greco-Roman lens. Examination of Judaism in relation to the development of Early Christianity emerged during the mid-twentieth century and was largely ignored throughout Christianity’s long history.
