Abstract/Description
Ideology or Organization? Why Terrorist Splinter
Significant amount of literature assumes that splinter groups are created because certain members believe that the organizational makeup no longer allows them to fulfill certain goals that they have. However I posit that the splintering is due to ideological differences that the splinter factions have from the parent groups. By utilizing case studies of different groups, it is clear to track ideology from three different ways, leadership, peace negotiations, and violence. These all issues highlight organizational issues that are ultimately caused by ideological issues. Keywords: terrorism, ideology, organization, splinter factions
