Abstract/Description

Glis3 is a transcription factor indicated in the development of many human pathologies, such as neonatal diabetes, congenital hypothyroidism, polycystic kidney disease, and type II diabetes mellitus. Using zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model organism, a knockout line was created using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing technology. In comparing the knockout line to the wildtypes, the goal is to better understand the role(s) Glis3 plays in the maturation of the pancreas and how it can provide insights into the development of type II diabetes.
