Abstract/Description
Regional studies have been held around Mayfield, Kentucky’s recovery following the events of the 2021 tornado. Many of which focus on the economic factor, most of which gloss over the recovery of the vegetation of Mayfield and the surrounding paper. Using Google Earth Engine a script was created of the region around Mayfield, and Mayfield itself, to detect the vegetational changes from one year prior of the tornado to four years post. Using scripting to pull Landsat-8 data on mass to then be ran through a custom NDVI script showing the vegetational changes over the years. Along with looking into local records to find what types of vegetation recovered faster and healthier.
