Abstract/Description

Land Between the Lakes (LBL) in Western Kentucky has an extensive history of human impact upon the land. From early settlers within the area, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) activity within the region, and the United States Forest Service involvement, LBL has undergone a variety of environmental changes its years of usage. This study seeks to be quantify the anthropogenic effects surrounding the involvement of the TVA within the area and measure the change in land use within the LBL area over a set amount of time. This study utilizes Landsat data acquired through Earth Explorer of the U.S. Geological Survey to visualize the land cover change and morphology change of the study area.
