Social Work and Social Welfare: Past, Present, and Future
Abstract
According to Merriam-Webster (2019), social work is “any of various professional activities or methods concretely concerned with providing social services and especially with the investigation, treatment, and material aid of the economically, physically, mentally, or socially disadvantaged”. For as long as people have been caring for others, the art of social work has existed. During this research paper, the reader will come to know social work’s foundation, qualifications, about the Code of Ethics, employment prospects, the history of social work, and get a glimpse into two of the branches of service with a view into the social welfare of that branch.
