Abstract
This paper is written with the intent to bring scholarly research sources together and to make practical application of them into the field of study of applied science. The main focus of this paper is to use research from scholarly sources to provide a clear and concise explanation of what quality hay is, why it is important, and what it takes to produce it. Proper soil conditions, efficient planting, considerable maintenance, proper harvesting, and careful storage of hay are all parts of the equation. When it comes to quality hay production these factors and the science behind the farming practices are what contribute to a successful result. The most common varieties of hay will be examined, however because of the variations in production techniques, only Bermudagrass will be covered in detail from establishment through harvesting.
