Classroom Management Strategies
Abstract
Effective classroom management is significant when fostering a positive learning environment and enhancing teachers’ practices and student performance. Main strategies such as establishing clear expectations, consistent consequences, positive reinforcement, classroom layout, behavior management plan, cooperative and competitive learning, enhances students' behavior and academic performance for its influences on students' positive behavior and success. Elementary students display positive behavior when they have consistent expectations and routines. Middle school students rely on classroom layout that provides space for students to feel respected and valued. High school students' teachers give them more independence chances that require them to have accountability for their actions. Parental and administrator involvement influence student's positive behavior as well. This paper outlines main strategies to help foster clear expectations to aid teachers in creating a positive learning environment.
