Unregulated Smartphone Use in Schools is Negatively Impacting Students: The Push for Schools to Step In
Abstract
Unregulated smartphone use in schools is impacting students in many ways, most of which are negative. In this paper, many research studies that investigate different topics such as how smartphones are used by today’s youth, the amount of time spent on the devices by their youthful owners, and how the use of the device affects their attention, academics, and emotional well-being are discussed. It is the purpose of this paper to take information found from other research and prove that students who are using their smartphones in an unregulated way during school hours are being adversely impacted and that schools must step in and enforce regulations around smartphone use within school walls to ensure that their students will be safe, healthier, focused, and set up for success both now and in the future.
