Leadership: A Search for the Perfect Model of Leadership
Abstract
In this senior project, research was conducted to narrow down specific leadership styles, characteristics, and theories to understand better what makes the perfect leader. We examine the chosen styles, characteristics, and theories such as Servant Leadership, Transformational Leadership, The Great Man, and Situational Leadership. We get insight from two leaders from the business sector, one of which is a former CEO and current COO of Enovis, and the second is the lead distributor and territory manager for Midwest Medical in the state of Tennessee. Although I learned more about leadership, and the specifics that have been developed in academic circles, my research concludes that we are no closer to the perfect model of a leader. Further research can be drawn from this paper, but I do not believe that there will ever be a perfect model to follow. Everyone is different, from leader to follower, as are the situations they find themselves in. Therefore, we as leaders must be flexible and able to adapt to any environment we are placed in.
