The Importance of Effective Classroom Management to Learning Outcomes in the Elementary Classroom

Abstract

Knowing classroom management strategies used by experienced teachers is a good starting point to having a successful and good school year. Having poor classroom management can lead to difficult behaviors from the students and teacher burnout. Difficult behaviors can cause the teacher to call into work or be in a terrible mood, which can lead to the students not wanting to be there if their teacher does not want to be. When burnout happens, the teacher is highly likely to leave the profession completely. Having proper training before and during the teaching career can help teachers understand more strategies to use for managing the classroom and the behaviors, which helps the learning outcomes of the students. Having good classroom management can lead to good morale from everybody, so both the teacher and the students will want to show up every day. When everyone feels good, the students will try more, and this benefits the learning outcomes.
