Abstract
This paper will explain the benefits of having a type of estate plan set up before death, such as a Last Will and Testament, Living Trust, Prenuptial Agreements, Durable Power of Attorney, and Healthcare Power of Attorney with an Advanced Healthcare Directive. The elements that make up an estate plan will be discussed and defined. The unfortunate outcomes of an unplanned or improperly prepared plan will be outlined to bring awareness to the readers. There are several steps involved in completing a plan, lots of types of assets that should be considered, and complications that can be avoided when people are informed of the facts and consequences of all these areas of estate planning.
