Abstract
Kindergarten students with autism use four main areas: instructional routines, instructional strategies, social and emotional support, and family collaboration, all of which are important when it comes to learning and when to put specific support strategies in place. The variety of supports used for these students can vary based on each student’s learning style. These students will struggle in four areas; social, emotional, behavioral, and communication. When these students receive interventions and support strategies for these areas, they can use the supports beyond just in the classroom. Individuals with autism can have different characteristics presented which can help educators know which strategies to implement. These students will struggle in these four areas and can present different struggles based on the category. Educators would need to know how to support these individuals and what supports can help with these specific behaviors. These individuals can also have different severity levels, which shows the level of severity the student is at and for teachers to know what strategies or interventions to use. Autism varies based on gender, Boys tend to show social and communicational struggles while girls downplay their symptoms and are usually diagnosed later compared to boys.
