Abstract
Edith Whitaker discusses her experiences while working for the Ken-Rad Tube Manufacturing Corporation at Owensboro, Kentucky between 1939 and 1945. She explains why she sought employment and described the working conditions at the factory. The interview concluded with her mentioning the limited benefits and some personal anecdotes.
Biographical/Historical Note
Edith Whitaker was born in 1921 in Owensboro, Kentucky. She was the youngest of seven children and graduated high school in 1939. After graduation, she was hired at Ken-Rad Tube Manufacturing Corporation. She periodically worked at the plan during the Second World War. She left Ken-Rad when labor unions were introduced to the plant in 1945.
