Abstract
Childhood is a heavily impressionable era of the human life cycle. With many stimuli and treatments affecting an adult’s behavior and level of competence later in life, this paper will dive into factors of upbringing that may have influenced current adult levels of independence and maturity. The data, consisting of a survey instrument in which over one hundred responses were collected, will be analyzed via tests of significance. The key finding in the research was that respondents who self-reported a childhood trauma were significantly more likely to also report that they struggle with finding a work/life balance as an adult.
