Abstract
Drawing on in-depth qualitative interviews with 17 transgender and nonbinary people, this poster dispels contemporary myths about transgender people spread in misinformation campaigns that scapegoat trans people and fuel bigoted beliefs. The myths we refute are that 1) transgender people are a new phenomenon, 2) transgender people are dangerous to society (and women), 3) children are being recruited and mentally/physically hurt by transgender people, and 4) people often regret transitioning to another gender.
