Abstract/Description

Low health literacy is a serious problem in healthcare today. The teach-back method is an effective way to deliver patient education. This method requires nurses to first teach/demonstrate a technique. At a later time, the patient will teach back what they previously learned. This method is effective because patients become involved in their healthcare. The nurse has the opportunity to correct patient misunderstandings because of the teach-back method.
