Abstract/Description

The problem investigated in the Evidence-Based Research Project was if aspiration is still a relevant step in administering an intramuscular injection. The purpose is to expand the knowledge of the healthcare team with the most recent and relevant research. The research shows the benefits of omitting the step of aspiration prior to administering the medication when giving an intramuscular injection. This review of literature will help promote the removal of the aspiration step when giving an intramuscular injection in all clinical settings by using evidence-based research.
