Abstract/Description

Nurse burnout and emotional exhaustion are serious problems that affect nurses’ health, job satisfaction, and quality of patient care. This evidence-based project aims to decrease burnout among nursing staff at Jackson Purchase Medical Center by implementing mindfulness training and discussions. The program will include teaching supervisors, directors, and nurses how to identify signs of burnout, practice mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing, short breaks, and grounding exercises, and integrate mindfulness into daily routines. Training sessions will use PowerPoint presentations, handouts, and open discussions, with anonymous feedback surveys at the end to gather staff input and suggestions. The project will also involve educating nurse supervisors and managers on recognizing burnout in themselves and their staff, encouraging supportive leadership and workplace culture.
