Abstract/Description

The “college student” stereotype has been over exaggerated and misconstrued by the media. The misconception is problematic because it causes older generations to have a lack of respect for this age of students, and it gives younger children and teenagers the wrong idea of higher education. Data is currently being collected by using Survey Monkey. The survey will ask questions that will either verify or reject the portrayed “college student” by the media. The media we will use to demonstrate the stereotype includes movies, such as Neighbors and Animal House, the social media account Old Row, and television shows, such as Greek. Our findings will be the basis for our discussion as to whether or not the majority of college students fit this expectation.
