Abstract/Description

The purpose of the project is to study and produce a public relations campaign for “Suicide Prevention Coalition of Calloway County (SPCCC).” The campaign will follow the public relations process that includes research, an action plan, a communication plan and an evaluation process for the end of the campaign.

Research on the public relations process details the importance of the planning of a campaign and shows its incredible impacts to the communication function of any organization and that organization’s impact in the community (Hon, 1998). In the study of Public Relations, the campaign is a management function because it provides a template for all future communications of an organization throughout the duration of the campaign. In other words, the scholarly significance of this project resides in the formative and summative research conducted as well as the community specific influence the SPCCC potentially has because of this campaign.

The research of the project will include primary audience research through surveys and secondary market and content research through governmental and professional databases. The plan itself will include a set of primary goals and objectives for a successful communications as well as tactics, which will include communication pieces that will be written and designed as a part of the project. Additionally, the campaign will have an evaluation plan, which provides instant effectiveness feedback of the project itself, should the SPCCC use it as a template for their organization.
