Abstract/Description

The project reviews twelve-hour nursing shifts and the effects they have on the nurse, the nurse/patient relationship and outcomes, Positive associations have been correlated between higher injury rates and fatigue in persons working twelve hours and longer (Blouin, Smith-Miller, Hardin, Li,2016).

Effective strategies to combat twelve-hour fatigue are explored and implemented into policy to increase nurse job safety/satisfaction and foster overall patient safety/satisfaction.
