Abstract/Description

Inteins, also known as intervening proteins, are genomic protein elements with self-catalytic activity within all three domains of life. Inteins act as environmental control switches where the splicing of the intein, under favorable conditions, allows for the host protein to function properly. This study examined the DnaB intein of M. smegmatis and how its splicing is affected by reactive chlorine species.
