Abstract/Description

Controversies are bound to happen, even in sports. However, due to the near constant coverage of sports in the media, athlete controversies are often perpetuated to a immoral degree. Sports media frames and sets agendas about particular sports controversies in such a way that makes audiences often form opinions of players regardless of their performances. This can be seen through athletes’ personal lives, potential performance-enhancing drug usage scandals, and political topics being connected to sports.
